Duck is happy to see human come home from school

Who knew ducks could be so loving? This feathered fellow, who is named Nibbles, looks longingly out into the yard for his favorite human companion. When the duck spots him, he quacks without pause to make sure everyone in the car has been alerted. When his BFF finally gets into the car, Nibbles is rewarded for his devotion with a few kisses on the beak. So cute!

Fox village in Japan is an amazing place

Japan is known for parks chock full of deer, bunnies, or cats, but Kitsune Mura in Miyagi Prefecture hosts an animal that hadn’t yet made the rounds on the blog-o-sphere — foxes! Also known as Zao Fox Village, the park hosts over a hundred of the cute critters. We learned some interesting facts from watching the video above. We’ve always thought foxes look a bit like cat-like dogs, and it appears that foxes have both cat-like and dog-like behaviors as well! Cat-like behavior: they eat rats, and according to the video, it’s their favorite food and the reason they were brought from Kunashir island to Hokkaido — to combat Hokkaido’s rat infestation! Dog-like behavior: they love to dig holes and do so constantly, and they store some of their food there in case of lean times! They even store items that visitors drop, kind of like dogs with their bones. We would love to see these adorable foxes in action! Excuse us while we go book a ticket to Japan!

Dogs can whisper

We’ve seen dogs sit and stay and even speak, but this is the first one we’ve heard whisper! Brody the 5-year-old Beagle mix can whisper on command. Amazingly enough, he learned to do so in under an hour, Holly Stephens, Brody’s owner, told ABC News. So smart!

Monk the husky hates the shower

It’s bath time for Monk the husky but he is NOT having any of it! Monk whines and howls to voice his displeasure at the notion of taking a bath. The bathroom door is closed so there’s no way Monk can run out, but that doesn’t stop him from slinking to the opposite side of the bathroom whenever his owner gets too close — can’t have her grabbing him and placing him in the shower! Poor Monk hates baths so much — we can’t help feeling a little bad for him, but not as bad as we feel for the owner who has to go through this ordeal every time bath time rolls around!

Super smart mice trained to do amazing tricks

Bet you didn’t know mice could play fetch… or ride skateboards… or put a ring on it! Several incredibly well-trained mice star in this video from the aptly named Mouse Agility YouTube channel. We knew mice are clever when it comes to stealing food and avoiding mouse traps, but we had no idea just how smart they are and how obedient they can be! Which trick is your favorite? Our favorite is the hurdles — the mice look like long-distance runners!

Man tricks shiba inu with boxes

This cute shiba inu knows that when he’s given the signal, he needs to dash out of his front yard and into the back of his owner’s SUV. Then he needs to make sure to sit down inside the cardboard box the owner has placed in the back.

It’s clear that the shiba is really good at this trick, so the owner decides to have some fun with the pup — he places progressively smaller cardboard boxes into the backseat, so every time the shiba is signaled to do the trick, it gets harder and harder! The shiba, ever-obedient, continues to climb into the smaller and smaller boxes. Even when the box is about the size of his paw, the shiba does his very best! So adorable!

This dog in a sea of tennis balls is pure bliss

This is every dog’s dream come true! This adorable dog frolics around this sea of several hundred tennis balls, periodically chomping down on them but promptly releasing them, unable to choose just one! At one point a cat slinks by, clearly unimpressed by the dog’s frivolous enthusiasm. This dog never seems to tire of the tennis balls! So much potential fetch!

Zebras on the loose in Brussels

Zebras escaped from a ranch in Brussels, Belgium and were running loose throughout the city. This is the great llama escape of 2015 all over again!

So what prompted the zebras to storm the gates? Bernard Luyckx, a friend of the zebras’ owner, spoke to BBC and said that the zebras were upset that some of their stablemates, who were horses, were sold. In his words, the zebras “trampled the gates and fled into the streets”. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the zebras were caught within the hour.

The zebra escape was a very exciting event for everyone involved — the citizens of Brussels, the zebras, and of course us!
