Sloth eats carrots and nothing else

This sloth obviously isn’t going to keep his trim figure by exercising, so he needs to watch what he eats! The adorable fellow, named Chewbacca, comfortably reclines next to a platter full of carrot sticks and celery.

Reaching his two-toed arm towards the platter, he grabs a carrot and puts it in his mouth, chewing happily. Done with the carrot, the sloth reaches once more towards the platter, this time grabbing celery. He pulls it towards his face, but instead of opening his mouth, the sloth simply sniffs the celery and puts it back.

The sloth reaches out for a third time. Of course the sloth can’t be bothered to turn his head to look at the platter, so he grabs blindly at the veggies. The unlucky sloth once again grabs celery, which he puts right back upon realizing what it is.

Fourth time was the charm — with the help of the caretaker, the sloth finally manages to grab a carrot, and nibbles away in apparent bliss.

Who knew sloths were such picky eaters?

Weasel family climbs a wall

How many tries does it take for a baby weasel to climb over a wall? From this video, it seems like quite a few! When mom weasel decided to climb over a formidable stone wall, she probably didn’t realize the challenge it would present for her babies!

The babies began scaling the wall only to topple down when they were only halfway up, landing in an adorable weasel heap! While most of the weasel babies eventually figured out the whole wall-climbing thing and reached the top of the wall, one straggler took much longer than the others — he only made it to the top when the others had made their way down the other side and out of sight.

Alone, the baby cried in distress, looking anxiously over the wall for a sign of his family. Luckily, mom weasel heard the baby and returned to the wall to help him down. Once the pair was reunited, the mom headed down the wall, hoping the baby would follow.

The baby, however, didn’t get any further than peering over the wall. The impatient mom, deciding she didn’t have any more time for the little one to find his courage, grabbed him by the fur and forced him down the wall!

We love this family and think they are adorable! The video says the animals are ferrets but they look a lot more like long-tailed weasels to us! Regardless of what species they are, they’re definitely super cute!

Fox village in Japan is an amazing place

Japan is known for parks chock full of deer, bunnies, or cats, but Kitsune Mura in Miyagi Prefecture hosts an animal that hadn’t yet made the rounds on the blog-o-sphere — foxes! Also known as Zao Fox Village, the park hosts over a hundred of the cute critters. We learned some interesting facts from watching the video above. We’ve always thought foxes look a bit like cat-like dogs, and it appears that foxes have both cat-like and dog-like behaviors as well! Cat-like behavior: they eat rats, and according to the video, it’s their favorite food and the reason they were brought from Kunashir island to Hokkaido — to combat Hokkaido’s rat infestation! Dog-like behavior: they love to dig holes and do so constantly, and they store some of their food there in case of lean times! They even store items that visitors drop, kind of like dogs with their bones. We would love to see these adorable foxes in action! Excuse us while we go book a ticket to Japan!

Monk the husky hates the shower

It’s bath time for Monk the husky but he is NOT having any of it! Monk whines and howls to voice his displeasure at the notion of taking a bath. The bathroom door is closed so there’s no way Monk can run out, but that doesn’t stop him from slinking to the opposite side of the bathroom whenever his owner gets too close — can’t have her grabbing him and placing him in the shower! Poor Monk hates baths so much — we can’t help feeling a little bad for him, but not as bad as we feel for the owner who has to go through this ordeal every time bath time rolls around!

This goose has swag

Goose swag

This boldly-feathered goose, together with the fluffy chicken and sleek guinea behind him look like they’re strutting straight through the poultry version of the Met Gala! We’ve never seen feathers crowning a goose’s head like that, and that chicken is wearing so much plumage we’re surprised she can even walk. The guinea is more classic in black and white. The whole scene is complete with paparazzi-like goats scoping out the birds.

Kangaroo and lemur play tag

Out of these two unlikely playmates, we think the kangaroo wins for most energetic! The kangaroo hops fervently from spot to spot, stopping to greet the human taking the video before leaping off in chase of the lemur. In terms of energy, the lemur doesn’t fall too far behind, swinging on a rope swing before fearlessly jumping off to sprint after the kangaroo. We also love the shy animal on the left of the video — it knows to stay out of the way of the rambunctious duo!
